This is a fantastic tribute to one of my all-time favorite movies! The scene that always gets me is the one-handed catch in the stands... a few seconds on screen without words, but SO MUCH is being said in those moments. Way to knock it out of the park on your first at-bat!
Thank you so much ☺️ This kind of feedback means a lot. It’s quite daunting to start something new like this, but I’m really excited.
I love that scene too. I debated giving it the Best Scene award for sure. There’s just so much great stuff in the film that it’s tough to single out any one scene, line or performance.
I actually can’t wait to review the tv show here at some point too. I still can’t believe Amazon cancelled it after one season…
I saw the first episode of the TV show and never picked it up again (don’t know why, because it was a pretty solid pilot). Let me know when you start it - would love to hear your thoughts!
I will. Love Nick Offerman in the coach role. I wish they’d at least gotten a shortened season or movie to at least finish the story that they wanted to tell.
Oh cool! I’ve actually been on the lookout for a Rockford Peaches t-shirt for a while now, but it’s only redbubble stuff that seems to ship to the U.K.
I’m still hoping that there will be a surprise Geena Davis cameo in the new film! 🤞🏻
Thanks, Devon! 🙏🏻 You’ll absolutely love the film. Feel-good, summer fun that’ll warm your heart for sure. And yeah, the not-Geena Davis confusion seems widespread, but I think it’s also because Lynn Cartwright, who plays older Dottie, delivers the best lip sync I’ve ever seen. They dubbed Geena’s voice over her and it’s so perfect that you can’t not think it’s actually her aged-up.

Great piece James! And happy birthday! 🧡
Thank you guys ❤️
Loved this. More nutty movie comments from the web please!
I’m also baffled that everyone thought that was Geena Davis aged up. Maybe that just shows I’m less willing to suspend my disbelief!
Thank you! I think that a lot of people *still* think it’s her 😅
I think it's a great idea man, everyone loves a sports movie.
Thanks. They are indeed the best!
Love this film. And yes, that not being Geena Davis at the end was news to me!
The greatest illusion in film 😅
Great film - Since I was born in Rockford I have a special affinity for it! And agreed too bad Geena Davis isn’t in the new Beetlejuice

Such a great review! I’ve never seen the film myself, but I can see why it’s so beloved. Going to have to add this to my to-watch list.
The casting confusion in the 1980s scenes makes me laugh. 😂

Wonderful review, James. This is one of my favorite sports movies that I haven’t seen in a while. It’s overdue for a rewatch.
